In a village near Grodno, an elderly man was attacked by a rabid badger.
Details of the unpleasant event were reported by the veterinarian of the district Station Trofimova Olga.
A native of the village of Sypanaya Gora appealed to the district medical center for help. According to him, a rabid beast attacked him in the forest and bit hard. It turned out to be a badger infected with rabies.
Later, a dead animal was found in the same area where it was attacked a villager. The badger’s body was taken to rabies research laboratory. results analyzes confirmed that the animal was infected.
Urgent measures were taken to capture and immunize stray animals. For several months, events will be held on preventing possible epidemics.
