On a well deserved break: Danish government will release retired elephants from circuses

Danish Government Separates from State Treasury eleven million Danish kroner (this is about one and a half million euros) to redeem older elephant artists from local circuses.

There are four such elephants; they are kept in cramped conditions and have whole “bouquets” of occupational diseases. The government sees it as its task to provide this decent content for the elderly for the rest of their lives.

Animals will be placed in Knutenborg – the so-called oldest and the largest safari park in Northern Europe, located at 150 kilometers from the capital of Denmark, Copenhagen. Here are already prepared for meeting: expect elephants spacious, 15 square kilometers, walking area, warm comfortable rooms and veterinary service.
