It’s about American cockroaches. They originally lived in Africa but in the 17th century spread to American continent. Insects could arrive in Sochi on a ship with some kind of cargo. It is also possible that giant cockroaches escaped from terrariums lovers of exotic, and then bred.

Experts note that insects occasionally occur in more northern latitudes, but in Sochi, due to the warm climate, they can settle permanently. Unfortunately, American cockroaches are not quite harmless. They can carry infections and cause people allergies, spoil food and materials in the buildings where they live.
