Southand deer – one of the symbols of the state of Chile, located in south america. But the existence of the species was under a threat.
This deer is even depicted on the arms of the country. But revered animal not all – hunters along with predators contributed to the decrease abundance of species. He is on the verge of extinction – left only about 1.5 thousand individuals.
One of the real steps to save the South American deer became actions of zoologists. Scientists released a pair in vivo, ready for breeding. Animals now live in the reserve Wilo-Wilo under the supervision of specialists. Biologists hope this will lead to an increase in the deer population.
