The unique book “Photographs of Cats. Walter Chandoch. 1942–2018” released by the American publisher Taschen. She represents the work of a man who devoted 70 years of his life photographing cats.
It all started in the winter of 1949 when Walter brought home for the bosom of a little homeless kitten, hungry and frozen. is he grew into a hefty cat with a violent temper and became the first model for his master. Since then, Chandokha seriously carried away photographing cats and turned it into a high art.
Chandoha’s cat portraits graced the covers of three hundred magazines and much more: t-shirts and postcards, posters and food cans. Only in his declining years, the master refused black and white photographs in favor colored.
Only two years did not live Walter Chandokha to his centenary anniversary. He died in January of this year, leaving an archive of 90 thousand cat photos.
